Knitting....

Here is proof that I'm working on my swap sock. After several starts I decided to go with something that isn't fancy, but I always get lots of compliments on even by those that don't like socks unless they are in neutral colors or that don't believe anyone would actually knit socks. So, I'm writing the pattern as I knit. Here is a sneak peek without giving away the color...

Eve, your sock is very pretty. I like mock cable patterns like that, they always look nice and fit well!

Thanks Carissa,
I like the mock cable over wider cable patterns if I want to work the pattern down to the toes decreases. I don't have to be concerned about the sock working for everyday shoes because the twisted stich part lays fairly flat, isn't too thick. It's an easy stitch pattern to remember, no having to keep looking at a pattern. And as you say, they always fit nice and are a bit forgiving if you are knitting for someone else.

The only problem with cabled patterns is that they don't show up well with bright or dark colors, I find muted or neutral colors work best.
